Perth Kite

Scarborough beach, Perth, Western Australia
A bit of simplicity sometimes surprises me with how it can benefit my landscape photography. Usually, I am looking to balance lots of complex factors with exposure before I get to composition. Here, I threw some rules away and just had fun. I was being blown all over the place by the wind, shielding my camera gear from sudden sand blasts. There was no one else on the beach or in the sea where I had a swim earlier in the rough surf. Mad dogs and Englishmen. I felt the excitement of the kite-surfers, especially when they primed themselves to ‘go high’ into the last of the light.
