Tongariro

Mount Ngauruhoe, Tongariro National Park, North Island, New Zealand

The Tongariro crossing is one of the best-regarded one day hikes in the World. Despite more visits to the area than I will admit to, I still have not done it. I decided that taking the local floatplane was a nice alternative. You can see the emerald lakes from above in this shot. A little later, I could see some of the hikers heading up the mountain, tiny figures in the distance.
